This is a guide about Firmware set bonuses in Borderlands 4. Learn the mechanics of Firmware, how to transfer and how to farm Firmware, and see a list of all Firmware set bonuses by continuing below!
List of Contents

Firmware set bonuses can provide minor to major bonuses depending on the number of equipment that share the same firmware. To maximize a firmware's effect, three equipment with the same bonus must be equipped on your character.

Firmware set bonuses will only appear for equipment. These include Repkits, Ordnance, Class Mods, Shields, and Enhancements. If you're looking to maximize set bonuses, you can equip a 3 piece bonus and a 2 piece bonus at the same time.
Firmware set bonuses will not appear on weapons and are exclusive to the equipment mentioned above.

To unlock the Transfer Machine, you must first complete all main missions. After this, 4 missions that will unlock the Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode will be given to you. Completing the first out of the four missions will unlock the Transfer Machine, allowing you to transfer set bonuses.
What is Ultimate Vault Hunter?

The Transfer Machine can be found in all faction towns and in the Sanctuary where Amara resides. To complete the transfer process, you will have to pay 60,000 cash and 80 Eridium.

You can only transfer firmware to the same item type. This means that you can only transfer from Shield to Shield, Ordnance to Ordnance, Repkit to Repkit, and so on.

If you're planning to transfer a firmware from your legendary shield, take note that this shield will be destroyed in the process.
If you've transferred a firmware to a different item, this firmware will stay on that item permanently. Try to transfer set bonuses on a legendary item that compliments your build to avoid having problems!

Since items have a random chance to be accompanied with a set bonus, the best way to obtain these items would be to farm a location with sheer amounts of loot.
Drill Sites contain a lot of badass enemies that give greater amounts of loot along with multiple bosses that will further increase the loot quantity that you can get.
