Maps

Maps are your first priority when encountering Shakra in a new area. Always buy new maps as these maps will help you track down areas where you haven't been and will help you trace your steps back when you need to backtrack.

Pharloom Full Map and All Locations

Quill

Quill

The Quill updates the map whenever Hornet rests on the bench. Purchase this second after getting the map to progress it during exploration.

Compass

Compass

The Compass shows the location of Hornet when the map menu is opened. Purchase this third after the map and quill as it does not take effect if a map isn't present, and will show Hornet's location on blank regions if the map isn't updated.

Once obtained, the Compass becomes one of the most useful Tools in the game equippable in the yellow slot of Crests.

Magnetite Brooch

Another good buy from the shop in Bone Bottom is the Magnetite Brooch which helps you collect nearby beads. This is especially useful when looking to farm Rosaries, as it automatically draws them towards Hornet.

Purchase this last after getting the Map, Quill, and Compass. It is a generally useful Tool to help players avoid losing Rosaries, especially in the early game where the currency is scarce.

Rosary Strings

Rosary Strings are not a must-skip, as having many Rosary beads at a time might be a liability and turning them into strings can help preserve and save them when you die in combat.

However, they are not necessary until later on where enemies more reliably drop beads for Hornet to collect.

Map Pins should be purchased last as its purpose is only to mark points of interest in the map. These are most useful after unlocking the map and quill, but is generally not a necessity for exploration.
