The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be released alongside the Standard Switch version. Read on to learn about Pokemon Legends: Z-A's console release, how to upgrade with the upgrade pack, and which consoles it releases on.

Will Release on Switch 2 With an Updated Version!
As shown on the April 2 Nintendo Direct, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will have a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition available when released!
On May 28th, a press release revealed that Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition are set to launch on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Preorders open on Thursday, June 5, via the Nintendo eShop.
Pokemon Legends Z-A Release Date and Price
Players Can Also Play the Switch 1 Version on the Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch version of the game is also playable on the new Switch 2 as the upcoming console has backwards compatibility with regular Switch games.
However, those who buy either the physical or digital version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack.
Upgrade packs will be available on the Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store.
4K Resolution and 120 FPS is Not Yet Confirmed
While the Switch 2 does support 4K Resolution and 120 FPS, it is still not confirmed if the Switch 2 Edition of Pokemon Legends: Z-A will have these features.
